About the Event

One of the largest gatherings of LGBTQ+ Black women leaders and allies in the region will take place this evening as the San Francisco Bay Times and The Academy SF honor leaders from the arts to city leadership and more for Black History Month.

Featured guests will include National Center for Lesbian Rights Executive Director Imani Rupert-Gordon and San Francisco AIDS Foundation CEO Dr. Tyler TerMeer. Among those receiving honors will be author, poet, and playwright Jewelle Gomez, whose latest play opens next month at the New Conservatory Theatre; and Theodora Lee of Theopolis Vineyards, who is the first Black woman to own a vineyard in Northern California! Guests will also enjoy a new show celebrating Black women composers (Tracy Chapman, Alicia Keys, and many more) produced and performed by Dr. Dee Spencer, founder of the jazz studies program at San Francisco State University and a talented composer in her own right, and the phenomenal powerhouse singer Renée Lubin of "Beach Blanket Babylon" fame.

Bring your Galentine for the evening that will also include emcee Donna Sachet and DJ Rockaway presented by Olivia Travel.
