On July 11 at The Academy, come hear a preview of the upcoming opera: David and Jonathan, by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, which will be presented by West Edge Opera on August 3, 9, & 16.
Academy Member, Mark Streshinsky, who will be directing the production, will present renowned baroque Tenors: Derek Chester as David and Aaron Sheehan as Jonathan, who will perform excerpts of the opera accompanied on the harpsichord by Adam Pearl.
This biblical tragedy tells the timeless story of war and how it pushes us to struggle with fate, loyalty, and the tragic conflict between love and duty. This rarely performed gem brings to life another side of David, whom we know to have slain Goliath, and the romantic love shared between him and Jonathan, son of King Saul.
