About the Event

Join The Academy, local LGBTQ+ business owners, and San Francisco Supervisor Rafael Mandelman for mingling and a panel discussion on our vacant storefronts in the Castro and what we can do to address the concern. Our panel includes:

  • Dave Karraker, Co-President of the Castro Merchants Association and co-owner of MX3 Fitness

  • Levi Maxwell, Chair of the Economic and Workforce Development Committee of the Castro LGBTQ Cultural District

  • Rafael Mandelman, Supervisor for District 8 that includes the Castro, Glen Park, Noe Valley, Diamond Heights, Mission Dolores, and Cole Valley

John T. Hendricks, Esq. — founder of Hendricks Law, P.C., a local LGBT Business Enterprise® certified law firm experienced providing business, employment, and cyber law services — will moderate the discussion.

We’ll address concerns like how to pragmatically start a new business or entity in the current economy. But we’ll also talk about how to preserve the Castro District as a space…
