Civic Saturday: How We Are Alone, How We Are Together

Everyone in the community is invited to attend this special outdoor event, including Academy Members and their guests. Tickets are required (1 ticket per admission). 

ABOUT THE EVENT

The story of the U.S. is often marked by ideas like individualism, competition and growth. But the challenges we face these days, like covid, political polarization and climate change, require new solutions--ones that will only come about through a spirit of cooperation, collectivism and generosity. So how do we weave a thread from our past to our future in ways that allow us to live in more connected ways? 

Join us for Civic Saturday, a joyful gathering of friends and strangers that fosters a spirit of shared civic purpose. We’ll hear music, poetry and stories as we gather in community to discuss how we are alone and how we are together in these times. Then, we'll end with a special group activity that will bring us all together. This event is in partnership with My Life, My Stories, a local nonprofit whose mission is to build intergenerational connections through the power of storytelling.

COST

FREE; (suggested donation $5 - 100% of proceeds support the presenting organizations)

EVENT LOCATION

This event will be held in The Academy's outdoor Garden Terrace with casual open seating.

COVID-19 SAFETY

Per SFDPH requirements, masks are required indoors, as well as proof of valid vaccination for those who wish to remain indoors. Our full safety information can be found HERE. Please contact us if you have any questions.

BEVERAGES

Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be available for purchase. Academy Social Club Members receive certain beverages complimentary. Ask your bartender or host for details.

CLUB INFORMATION (FOR MEMBERS)

The Club will also be open during regular hours (Saturdays 6pm-12am) for Members and their guests not attending this special event. Regular Club guest policy applies.
